OUR hosted its second annual Summer Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) on Friday, July 25, 2025, in the lobby of the Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering. More than 250 students shared research at the event, which featured over 130 projects and highlighted work conducted in a wide range of fields. Presenters included students from a number of summer research programs on campus, as well as UMD undergraduates undertaking research off campus at Children’s National Hospital, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, and other institutions. Photos from the event are available in OUR’s photo repository, and a subset of the posters shared at the event can be found in the Digital Repository at the University of Maryland's SURC 2025 collection.

We would like to express our gratitude to the many members of the UMD community and campus partners whose support and participation made the success of the event possible. We sincerely thank all of the student presenters at SURC and their research advisors, who reviewed their proposals to present and guided them in their preparations for the event. We are also grateful to the many UMD community members who joined us to learn more about the students’ work, as well as to the Department of Computer Science and Facilities Management for enabling us to use the lobby of Iribe as the event venue.

We look forward to continuing our work in support of UMD’s undergraduate research community for the rest of the summer and during the upcoming academic year. Many thanks again to everyone who contributed to SURC!
