FIRE Global Design & Development Peer Research Mentor Featured in Maryland Global


The First-Year Innovation & Research Experience (FIRE) Peer Research Mentor Ashley Chau's research on preserving local dialects of Chinese was featured in a story published this November by Maryland Global.


Ashley is a junior linguistics major and a member of the FIRE Global Development & Design (GDD) stream. In an interview with Maryland Global Editorial Staff, Ashley shares the importance of her research in preserving dialects of Chinese that are rapidly disappearing in favor of Standard Mandarin and English. She describes both the personal and global impacts of these shifts.
