OUR works with campus partners to create and sustain equitable opportunities for undergraduate students to engage in research, innovation, and other scholarly activities.

Call for Proposals

For Campus Partners Seeking

A course-based way to engage ~10 students in research for ~4-6 hours per week.

A course-based way to engage ~10 students in summer research for 8 weeks and ~25 hours per week.

A non-course based way to engage a single student in summer research for 8 weeks, hours and nature of engagement flexible.

To collaborate on the creation of a year-round research group led by a full-time Assistant Clinical Professor impacting ~40 students.

OUR Provides

Course creation & scheduling, faculty readiness and support, student recruitment & management, assessment & evaluation.

Course creation & scheduling, faculty readiness and support, faculty stipend (when needed), student recruitment & management, assessment & evaluation, summative dissemination experience.

Student recruitment & management, assessment & evaluation, summative dissemination experience.

Campus Partner Provides

Instructor & faculty mentor, research facilities, equipment & consumables. Time commitment is approximately ~4 to 6 hours per week.

Faculty mentor, research facilities, equipment & consumables. Time commitment variable.

Faculty collaborator. Time commitment is variable but no more than 1 hour per week.

Through this opportunities database and other initiatives, we facilitate equitable and inclusive recruitment into on-campus undergraduate research positions and related opportunities.

New System in Development

This information relates to our current system for helping campus partners recruit undergraduate students for research opportunities.

Please stay tuned for a new system available to UMD campus partners in early 2025.

Our goal is to provide a system that enables partners to dynamically create, modify, and delete research opportunities without additional intervention from our office. We seek to better facilitate student-faculty connections by allowing UMD faculty to communicate with and evaluate candidates without needing emails, scheduled meetings, and other time-consuming processes.
