OUR provides UMD campus partners and other research groups a platform for publicizing undergraduate research opportunities. We facilitate equitable and inclusive recruitment into on-campus undergraduate research positions and related opportunities through this opportunities database and other initiatives.

If you have an entry in the database and want to modify or remove it, please email our team with new information, and we will process the change within one business day.

New System in Development

OUR has been working to provide campus partners with an improved platform for publicizing undergraduate research opportunities. Our goal has been to provide a new system enabling partners to dynamically create, modify, and retire research opportunities without additional intervention or oversight from our office.

More importantly, we have sought to facilitate better undergraduate student-partner connections by empowering partners to communicate with and evaluate undergraduate student candidates in one dedicated ecosystem without the need for additional emails, phone calls, meetings, and other time-consuming processes.

Campus partners will be able to use ForagerOne to connect with undergraduate students of all backgrounds and disciplines seeking campus-based research opportunities.

Note: Please stay tuned for a new system available to UMD campus partners in February 2025. You can preview this new system using the link below. This resource will be formally launched to undergraduate students on February 14, 2025.

Course Resources

With support from the Teaching & Learning Transformation Center, OUR developed an open educational resource for students to learn more about undergraduate research, develop basic research skills and competencies, and develop a plan for finding their first research opportunity.

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities & Competencies (UROC) open educational resource is a free, open-access resource hosted in Open Learning for University of Maryland students, faculty, and staff. UROC is also publicly available for individuals beyond UMD College Park.

UROC is available to University of Maryland campus partners to use and integrate into courses, workshops, or programs through the UMD Open Learning platform.

CUR Membership
